Lyrics

Lyrics to: Second Chance
By: David W. Oteman
c 2010

V1: If you ask me how I’ve been
Do I smile and say just fine?
If you ask me what is new
Do I say, not much, and you?
If you ask if I still care
How I wish I could be there
I’m longing to start this dance
Could I have a second chance?

Chorus: I knew that I loved you
The night we met
Couldn’t get you out of my mind
I’d never had love this kind
Could I have a second chance?

V2: If I got down on my knees
And I asked you, could you please?
If I asked straight from my heart
Could we make a brand new start?
If I asked you to forgive
Then could I be free to live?
Had many a new romance
Could I have a second chance?

Chorus: I knew that I loved you
The night we met
Couldn’t get you out of my mind
I’d never had love this kind
Could I have a second chance?

V3: Could I have a second chance?
I can’t let go of the past
Now I know just what we had
Can’t keep up this masquerade
How I miss you ev’ry day
The only real love I’ve known
Through the years its only grown
Could I have a second chance?

Chorus/End: I knew that I loved you How could I have been so blind?
The night we met Could I have a second chance?
Couldn’t get you out of my mind

Cute.   I would emphasize 'chance' rather than 'second'.  I'd also say
"what's new' instead of 'what is new'.. sounds a bit stuff and stilted.

Arrangement is elegant, well done. Voice and melody are nice. This song could use some complexity, depth of soul, in the lyrics dept. You have yourself a good song, you've already done the hard part as far as I'm concerned, just need more meaningful lyrics.

I actually like this. It reminds me of a theater production, but with a full arrangement it would be kind of a nostalgic, fun song!

Lyrically, it is a good twist on the second chance theme.

Might actually make a good country tune, and could also be a little up tempo for a different feel.
